Ali Ahmady, PhD, HCLD, EMB 

Dr. Ali Ahmady has been Lab Director at University Hospitals Fertility Center, Cleveland, Ohio since 2009. He has been involved in ART field as embryologist since late 1980s. Throughout his career he has directed 5 IVF, Andrology/Endocrinology labs, and constructed 4 ART laboratories.

Dr. Ahmady received his PhD in Embryology from National University of Singapore. His post- graduate research focused on male infertility. He did a systematic study of fertilizing ability of dead sperm (at cellular and molecular level especially DNA damage) to unravel the process of life, concluding integrity of sperm DNA is the most determining factor. He developed Single Sperm Curling test for selecting a viable sperm in ICSI procedure. He also developed hamster-ICSI assay for evaluating fertilizing ability of severe male factor patient's sperm. He produced first ICSI live-birth in mouse. Dr. Ahmady is an author of book, co-author of chapter in Atlas of Embryology and published more than 20 peer-reviewed papers. His work on DNA-damage has been quoted by several pioneers in the field.

He is Certified Reproductive Embryologist from American College of Embryology and certified High Complexity Lab Director from American Board of Bioanalysis.  He also holds certificate of qualification as Lab Director in Andrology and Endocrinology from New York State Department of Health.

His is a member of American Society for Reproductive Medicine, American Association of Bioanalysis, American College of Embryology, National Center for Regenerative Medicine and Center for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine.  He is a member of Embryonic Stem Cell Research Oversight Committee at Case Western Reserve University, Ohio.
