Embryologist of the Month of February 2015 - Greg L. Christensen, Ph.D., H.C.L.D.

  Greg L. Christensen, Ph.D., H.C.L.D.

 

Dr. Christensen is Laboratory Director at the University of Louisville and offsite Director, Center for Reproductive Health, University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio. He received Bachelors of Science, from Brigham Young University, Provo, UT in Animal Sciences Department in 1996. His interests in human reproduction and infertility led him to apply for and take a position as a Ph.D. student in the Physiology Department at the University of Utah, School of Medicine, Salt Lake City, UT.

 

He worked as Laboratory Technician, Andrology and IVF Laboratories at the University of Utah from 1997 to 1999. He then remained Research Associate until 2006 and conducted research under the directions of Dr. Douglas Carrell, Ph.D., investigating genetic causes of male infertility, earning PhD in 2006. In 2007 he was selected as Laboratory Director, Oregon Center for Fertility, Eugene, OR. He worked there briefly and then accepted the current position. He is certified as High Complexity Laboratory Director from American Board of Bioanalysis.

His professional interests are fertility preservation in male and female adolescents/children and Genetic causes of male infertility. He has worked closely with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital over the past three years to establish a tissue and egg banking program.

He enjoys spending time with his wife and four boys. He likes gardening, farming, riding his horse (Moose), baking, and doing community service at his church and local scout troop.
