Embryologist of the Month of June 2014 Carlos A. Guerrero, Ph.D, HCLD, ELD

American College of Embryology recognizes excellence in the practice of Reproductive Embryology of the following practitioner. 

 

      Dr. Carlos A. Guerrero

Dr. Guerrero is Scientific Director at Fertility Specialists of Texas in Frisco, Texas. He is a graduate of Louisiana State University, where he received his undergraduate degree in Animal Science and doctoral degree in Reproductive Physiology with emphasis in Embryology. He conducted research under the guidance of Boyd Professor Dr. Robert Godke, a pioneer in assisted reproductive technologies.

 

Dr. Guerrero joined the prestigious THR-Presbyterian Hospital ARTS Program in Dallas-Fort Worth, TX in 2006 that performed well over 1200 fresh cycles per year. Dr. Guerrero was a Senior Embryologist and Head of Research and Development. Child magazine named the Presbyterian Hospital ARTS program one of the "10 Best Fertility Centers" in the country during this time.

Dr. Guerrero designed and developed a state of the art laboratory for Fertility Specialists of Texas, where he has been serving as Scientific Director since 2010. This clinic has been recognized for consistently producing pregnancy rates well above the national average.

His technical experience and scientific knowledge in the assisted reproduction laboratory have been recognized both locally and nationally. His expertise is in all areas of Embryology and Andrology. Dr. Guerrero is actively involved in research projects and has several publications in prestigious scientific journals. His current research interests include egg freezing for fertility preservation, blastocyst cryopreservation, embryo growth and selection and blastocyst culture. Dr. Guerrero achieved one of the first egg freezing pregnancies in the state of Texas.

He is fluent in English and Spanish. He is originally from Colombia, South America.  He is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, Society of Reproductive Biologists and Technologists and the American Association of Bioanalysts. He is also the Founder and President of the Dallas Embryologists Association. Dr. Guerrero is board certified by the American Board of Bioanalysis in Human Clinical Andrology and Embryology and as a High Complexity Clinical Laboratory Director and Embryology Laboratory Director. He is also certified as a RLAP inspector for the College of American Pathologists.
