American College of Embryology names Dr. Sule Dogan, Embryologist of the Month.

Dr. Dogan is the Quality Control and Laboratory Supervisor at IVF Michigan , Blomfiled Hills, MI 

A native of Turkey, Sule Dogan completed her BS in Biology from Ankara University, MSc in Embryology and another Master’s degree in science education, both from DokuzEylul University in Turkey. After completing her Andrology and Embryology training,she worked at the IVF Clinic of DokuzEylul University Medical School between 2007 and 2009. She was then selected for a research assistantship position at Mississippi State University’s Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences in 2010. With her mentor Dr. Memili, Dr. Dogan investigated the novel fertility markers in bulls by focusing on dynamics of sperm chromatin and apoptosis influencing early embryonic development during her PhD.
Dr. Dogan has been actively doing research and presenting her findings as a platform presenter at annual meetings for groups such as European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). She’s been the recipient of several research awards, including the Animal Reproduction in Agriculture Research Fellowship Award (supported by Pfizer Animal Research) at the 45th annual Society for the Study of Reproduction (SSR) conference in 2012, while also receiving honors in the computational merit poster presentation at the MidSouth Computational Biology and Bioinformatics Society conference and SSR’sTrainee Research Platform Competition.
Dr. Dogan has over ten years of basic and clinical experience in embryology and molecular biology. She has many publications in international journals, including many book chapters. Dr. Dogan has been serving as a reviewer for scientific journals and conferences since 2010.
Dr. Dogan joined IVF Michigan Fertility Centers as an embryologist in May 2013. IVF Michigan Fertility Center, one of the leading fertility clinics in the world, provides a wide variety of infertility treatments to patients, as well as in vitro related procedures. The clinic has over 60 years of collective experience with locations in Bloomfield Hills, Ann Arbor, Dearborn, EastLansing, Macomb, Saginaw andToledo. While working with pioneers in the field (Dr. Fakih, Dr. Shamma and Dr. Khan), Dr. Dogan became competent in all aspects of IVF, Quality Control and Quality Assessment, FDA, CLIA, COLA, CAP and OSHA regulations. In 2015, she began serving as the quality control and laboratory supervisor.
Dr. Dogan has led opening up two new andrology laboratories, training many andrologist and embryologist, and successfully passing two CAP (Embryology Lab) and ten COLA (Andrology satellite labs) inspections without any (or minimal) citations in the last 4 years. She is a certified and qualified Technical Supervisor (ABB) in Andrology and Embryology, and HCLD (ABB) with a demonstrated history of working in the hospital and health care industries. Her current focus is preimplantation genetic screening of early embryonic development. She provides consultation services, including, but not limited to, Quality Control and Laboratory pre- and post- inspections (CAP, COLA), and training in all aspects of andrology and embryology (from semen analysis, injection, biopsy to oocyte vitrification) for private practices and/or non-profit organizations.
