Dr. Michael Reed is an embryologist of the month of January, 2017

American College of Embryology names Dr. Michael Reed Embryologist of the Month.  

 

            Michael Reed, PhD

Dr. Michael L. Reed, Ph.D., is the laboratory director for the Fertility Center of New Mexico, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Dr. Reed began his formal training in reproductive physiology as an undergraduate student in Animal Science at Colorado State University.  He received his Master’s degree in Dairy Science from Louisiana State University in 1984, and his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University in 1989.  Following post-doctoral positions at North Carolina State University and Colorado State University, he has been directing IVF and clinical andrology laboratories since 1992, bringing over 35 years of practical, teaching, and research experience in mammalian reproductive physiology to clinical ART.

Dr. Reed is Board Certified by the American Board of Bioanalysis ABB for embryology, andrology, and high-complexity laboratory testing (ELD, ALD, HCLD).

Dr. Reed continues to challenge conventional and historical approaches to assisted reproduction techniques as a goal of continual quality improvement. Ongoing projects include improvement and innovation of embryo culture, cryopreservation, and evaluation of approaches for the handling and maintenance of sperm, eggs, and embryos in the laboratory. 

Dr. Reed is a member and conference participant of several national and international societies, and continues an active program for innovation and research; as such, Dr. Reed has published extensively in peer-reviewed publications and text-books, and he is an active reviewer for several major journals.
